Several times a year, Manifesto Poetico opens its research to artists who want to enter the work, question it, and discover through practice.
These are not conventional workshops.
They are periods of concentrated research where training, experimentation, composition and encounter come together.
Each laboratory responds to the current state of the research.
Some return to long-term investigations.
Others emerge from a new question.
And sometimes a laboratory becomes the beginning of something that continues into a performance, a production or a new line of research.
THE LABORATORY
Movement, space, structure, mask, rhythm, imagination and direct contact with others are at the centre of the work.
There is training, but also exploration.
There is technique, but also discovery.
There is individual work, but also collective composition.
Rather than teaching a fixed method, each laboratory invites participants to enter a field of research and discover what becomes possible through practice, guided by our research and experience.
The work is physical, imaginative and demanding.
NEXT OPEN LABORATORIES
No dates announced yet.
Our Open Laboratory programme changes according to the development of the research.
New laboratories are announced throughout the year.
Every laboratory is a new encounter with the research.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Manifesto Poetico Open Laboratories are primarily designed for professional artists and advanced students.
We welcome performers, actors, dancers, directors, dramaturges, puppeteers and artists from other disciplines whose practice can enter into dialogue with theatre.
Depending on the laboratory, architects, designers, musicians, visual artists, writers and other creative practitioners may also be invited.
Some laboratories can also be developed for beginners, on request and/or by commission.
What matters most is not a particular background, but a willingness to work, question and discover.
NOT A FIXED METHOD
Every laboratory is different.
The content is shaped by the current research, the place, the participants and the questions that emerge during the process.
We do not ask participants to reproduce a Manifesto Poetico style. There is no fixed style to reproduce.
We invite them to enter the research and discover what it can generate in their own practice.
The laboratory is not about giving answers.
It is about creating the conditions for new questions to appear.
BRING THE LABORATORY TO YOUR PLACE
Open Laboratories can also be commissioned by universities, theatre schools, festivals, companies, cultural organisations and groups of artists.
A laboratory can be developed around one of Manifesto Poetico's existing research territories, or designed in response to a particular context, group or artistic question.
Often, a commissioned Open Laboratory is followed by a TransPoetico Production.
If you are interested in bringing an Open Laboratory to your institution or community, we would be happy to explore the possibilities.
THE RESEARCH CONTINUES
Every laboratory leaves something behind.
A discovery. A question. A relationship. A new structure.
Sometimes a performance. Sometimes another laboratory.
The research continues through these encounters.
