Professor McDonald has directed the Voice curriculum for Wagner College Theatre since 2000. He holds an MFA from the UCLA School of Theatre Film and Television. Performance credits range from film to stand-up to professional athletics. The focus of Prof. McDonald’s research is the staging of plays according to the inherent rhythm and movement found in the text.
Professor McDonald has directed Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet, Waiting for Lefty, Burn This, Dutchman, 21 Chump Street, Savage in Limbo, Women of Manhattan, Uncommon Women…and others, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, The Rimers of Eldritch, and others. Dialect and Voice Coaching at Wagner Theatre includes Sweeny Todd, Cabaret, Chess, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Three Musketeers, City of Angels, Titanic, and The Diviners.
For three years, Professor McDonald served as the resident Voice and Dialect Coach with The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, where coaching credits include The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Rivals, Coriolanus, London Assurance, The Tempest, and Comedy of Errors. New York coaching credits include Guys and Dolls, Murdering Marlowe, The Bacchae, On the Verge, and This Is Not A Pipe Dream.
Regional acting credits: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Measure for Measure, The Glass Menagerie, Arms and the Man, and The Importance of Being Earnest.
AT Wagner, Professor McDonald teaches multiple levels of Voice, Acting, and Musical Theatre Performance, in addition to Theatre Appreciation, Script Analysis, Devised Theatre, and Hatha Yoga.
